Hello everyone,

I'm Charlotte Davis and I currently work at the School of Ballet Theatre UK in the Jazz Faculty along with heading up the Level 3 Foundation Academic subjects. 

I am chat with you all and to share our knowledge, experiences and ideas for our work moving forwards.

I've just attended the first zoom meet up and I am feeling much more settled knowing that everyone is feeling just as petrified as I am about what we have decided to undertake, with attempting a Masters degree in a pandemic.

This course encompasses my goals to look inside myself and to see how I can improve and what each lesson in life is showing me. 

I ardently await to incorporate the findings of my work into my professional life, to not only make me a more competent teacher but also a more advantageous human being.

Literature Review

  I hope you are getting on well with your studies. I am struggling with writing these blog posts. With the lack of interaction from colleagues and supervisors, it feels a bit pointless and disheartening sometimes. I suppose that is my ego taking over and my need to be externally validated. When really I suppose this is just another external output for our internal processes throughout this MA journey. As I head through Module 2 I must admit I am struggling with knowing the difference between all of the different submissions. The meaning making model, drawing on our past and present learning and practice. The title award rationale, just seems to be like a smaller version and the full essay. I can't help but have similar information and citations in them. Is anyone else feeling the same? I'm not sure if it's because by the time I've finished a full day and attempted a certain amount of reading before looking into the work, my mind is just gone by the time I get to it, bu...

Deferral

Unfortunately my Dad's health has deteriorated quite rapidly over the past 6 months and he has been (and continues to be) hospitalised for the past 5 weeks. His Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's have progressed and Dad is now with palliative and end of life care. As much as I wanted to get this MA completed in time for my Dad to know I had completed it, I have had to make the difficult decision to defer. I will return to this hopefully in the next submission period, after spending all of the time I now can with my family. I wish the best of luck to all of the Module 3 students in my group for your submissions.

Sunday Night's Discussion continued

 So, let's try and see if we can eloquently convey the outcome of the discussion.  Information, Learning and Knowledge. What's the difference? When do they happen? Well after listening to everyone and inputting my own thoughts on the matter, I've come up with this.....for the moment. I believe that we receive information as the learner, we digest that information through the "filter of our own experience" (as quoted by Christopher Moore in the discussion) and the knowledge is then the  "factual information" (as quoted by Leroy in the discussion) and the way in which we transfer this to the next learner and the different vocabulary that we use to communicate this. I feel the learning never stops as we discover new ways of sharing this information and adapting it to the next learner's own individual filter of experience.
